Because someone was being cheeky and wanted you to say #Z#. That's still #""_(18)^(38) "Ar"#, the argon-38 isotope (0.063% abundant), with #18# protons (clearly nothing but argon), and #20# neutrons to give a mass number of #38#.

In reality, that IS #""_(18)^(38) "Ar"#.
