There's a huge difference...


A nodal plane is a plane where electrons cannot be. The orbital CONTAINS the nodal plane. They're entirely different things.

This #p_z# orbital has an #xy# nodal plane. Thus, no electrons can exist #90^@# from the #z# axis.
