Do electrons really spin like a top?

The spin quantum numbers #m_s = pm1/2# for an electron show no classical analog. It is literally in the name. They are quantum mechanical spins, derived purely from the fermionic nature of electrons (and not the Schrodinger equation).

Again, there is no classical analog or analogy to quantum spin of electrons. They are not literally spinning.
