If my neighbor plays loud music, how do the frequencies behave through walls?

Depends on what music and how loudly, but prolonged exposure may impair your hearing and sleep cycle if it's very loud. You will certainly hear loud bass (sub bass if they have sub woofers) from the kick drum if it's club dance music.

Bass frequencies (below #~20"0 Hz"#) penetrate most through walls, and treble (above #~"10000 Hz"#) gets attenuated fairly well. That means what you hear will be fairly muffled, but you could probably feel the bass.

You should either move, or tell your neighbor to turn it down. I'd say do the latter.
